The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, reiterated the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the success of the Fibre Forward Strategic Development Project.
This effort aims to position Nigeria as Africa’s third-largest terrestrial fibre-optic infrastructure provider.

Speaking at the Fibre Forward Strategic Development Workshop organized by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Digital Economy, and Information Technology (FMCIDENigeria) in Abuja, the Minister emphasized the project’s importance.

The initiative aims to extend Nigeria’s fibre-optic backbone by 90,000 km, significantly enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure.

Our correspondent gathered that the project seeks to foster economic growth, job creation, and technological empowerment. Stakeholders at the workshop described the event as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward revolutionizing connectivity through a $2 billion Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) initiative.

This initiative demonstrates Nigeria’s dedication to bridging the digital divide and achieving a digitally driven economy.
