By correspondent in Ilorin.

More than 200 intending pilgrims to Makkah and Madina from Kwara State on Friday protested at the Ilorin International Airport over their delayed flight due to faulty aircraft.

Our correspondent reports that the intending pilgrims, officials, and the 2024 state Amirul Hajj were scheduled to board the plane on Thursday but it developed technical fault to which engineers could not repair as at Friday.

The protesters, including their relatives, took to the highway, singing solidarity songs and expressing their frustration as the last batch of pilgrims from the state.

But Sen. Ibrahim Oloriegbe, the state 2024 Amirul Hajj, who confirmed the delayed flight, however, assured that” another aircraft from Medina is expected to transport the intending pilgrims.”

He appealed for patience, noting that the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria is working to resolve the issue.

“The board will continue to provide food for the intending pilgrims until they are transported to the holy land,he further assured.
