The spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Assistant Corps Marshal Jonas Agwu,said the two victims that survive the ghastly motor accident that occured on Lokoja-Okene highway on Sunday were saved because they used seat belts.
He stated this in a statement he signed in Abuja in respect of the accident that consumed 19 persons .
Our correspondent reports that the Federal Road Safety Corps makes the use of seat belt compulsory for drivers and passengers while on road in Nigeria.to save life in a road accident.
Agwu,who described the incident as unfortunately, said why 19 people out of the 22 victims died,1 injured.
The impact of the collision consequent upon the accident, the spokesman further revealed,resulted in a fire inferno that burnt the victims to death.
According to him,the remaining 2 victims rescued by FRSC operatives without injuries survived the crash because they complied with traffic regulations on the compulsory use of seatbelts.
Agwu said that a crash investigation report revealed that the accident involved two vehicles comprising a Dangote Truck with registration number NSH680YJ and a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number KMC455ZE.
Speaking more on the tragedy, Again the Toyota Hiace Bus,which loaded from Kano, was on its lane on the highway when the Dangote Truck driver who drove from Port Harcourt wrongfully overtook a vehicle and had head-on collision with the bus.
