The Saudi Arabian Government has donated fifty tonnes of dates to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for onward distribution to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the country.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr Abel Enitan, who received items through his counterpart in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr Adamu Lamuwa, assured Saudi government that the items will be judiciously distributed to the target beneficiaries.

Enitan, while appreciating the gesture of the donor, said his ministry would continue to strengthen partnerships with relevant stakeholders to ensure adequate support to vulnerable groups in the society.

He, therefore, thanked officials of the foreign affairs ministry for being a bridge through which the items were being delivered to the humanitarian ministry.

In his response, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Lamuwa said, the relationship between Nigeria and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had gone beyond donations.

Lamuwa explained that Nigeria had built both political and business relationships with Saudi Arabia over the years.
