The Chief Imam of Busu, in Lavun Local Government Area (LGA) Niger, Alhaji Alfa Usman ,has admonished Nigerian leaders, Muslims in particular to renew their faith in their belief and govern with the fear of God.

He said that to demonstrate that they have the interest of the citizenry at heart, there’s urgent need for leaders at all the local government, state and at the federal level to reflect on the worsening economic situation and come up with policies that would alleviate the plight of the Nigerian populace particularly in this holy month of Ramadan.

The Cleric made the appeal at the opening of a Ramadan tafsir and breaking of fast which took place at the Better life branch of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Qur’anic Memorisation School, Busu, sponsored by Alhaji Mohammed Baba-Busu.

He reasoned that, “This year’s Ramadan came at the most trying period for Nigeria and her citizenry, irrespective of religious background and affiliations hence the need for the government to do something urgently to avoid more hunger induced death of Nigerians”.

Alhaji Usman also encouraged Muslims to intensify prayers during the month, for the return of permanent peace in Nigeria because, ‘prayer remains the most effective weapon against any form of challenge’.

With prayers, the Islamic Cleric said he is optimistic that the current security, socio-economic and other challenges facing the country and her citizenry will be resolved through divine intervention.

Convener and sponsor of the Tafsir, Alhaji Muhammad Baba-Busu, who holds Nupe traditional title of, “Jakadan Labarin Nupe”, had earlier urged Muslims to remember the day of reckoning in whatever they do and fear Allah.

Baba-Busu also appealed to wealthy individuals to show concerns for the less-privileged persons in the society by providing them with food items and cash to cushion the effects of the economic situation.

He said it is more rewarding for Muslims to spend their God-given wealth in the course of moving the religion forward, rather than saving them in Banks that will not add any value to their spiritual wellbeing.

Baba-Busu,who is the zonal Manager, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reminded his fellow Muslims that, “All that will be required to bury anyone, once you die, will not cost more than N2, 000. Why keeping millions of Naira in the Bank that will not be useful to you in the hereafter. Why the ego and unnecessary amassing of wealth?,he said
