The Kogi State Branch, Council of Ulama’u of Nigeria, solemnly has announced the demise of one of its active members and a prominent Traditional Title Holder in Kakanda Kingdom, ALHAJI ILYAS WAZIRI.
A statement from the secretarial of the faith-based, with a copy available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Tuesday said the death occurred last night Monday, 8th Ramadan, 1445H/18th March, 2024 at his residence, Karaworo, Lokoja, kogi state capital.
According to the statement,the funeral prayer would “In Shaa ALLAH be held at his residence by 2.00 p.m. today after which he will be laid to rest at Kabawa Muslim Cemetery.”
“Council solemnly commiserates with his immediate family members and Alhaji Idris, his senior brother who is the chief mourner, over this painful but inevitable loss,” the council said.
The council condolenced to HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Kabir Maikarfi IV, the Maigari of Lokoja, his Traditional Title Holders, HRH Alhaji Muhammad Sani Alhassan, the Agankyu of Kakanda Kingdom, his Traditional Title Holders, the Hon. Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly and Garkuwa of Kakanda Kingdom, Rt. Hon. Alhaji Yusuf Umar Aliyu.
The Hon. Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Faruk M. D. Yahaya, the Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Comrade Abdullahi Adamu and his Councillors, members of Lokoja Local Government Traditional Council, his, friends, colleagues, well-wishers and admirers over this great loss.
It prayed Almighty ALLAH to Shower His Mercy upon the deceased, Forgive all his shortcomings, Grant him Jannat Firdaus and Grant the Ummah the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, ameen thumma ameen.
The council described the death of Alhaji Waziri as a colossal loss to it in particular and the Ummah in general as well as the members of the public.
“Thd Council firmly and sincerely stands by all the bereaved at this critical moment of grief.
The council urged the family to take solace in the Divine Decision and offer the deceased fervent prayers, and Promised ots continued rememberance him in its prayers along with all other deceased Muslims.
“May his gentle soul rest in the bliss of Jannat Firdaus, ameen thumma,”it prayed.
When our correspondent visited the house of the deceased, who was in his late 60s and a retiree of the Nigerian Television Authorities, NTA, Lokoja,many sympathizers, including the General Manager of the TV state, Alhaji Adam Yahaya, were seen at the solemn occasion.
