SANITATION AND WASTE MANAGEMENT IN KOGI :

—-A new scientific approach towards a cleaner and healthy environment has commenced.

A well coordinated concerted efforts and mult- dimensional approach has been launched to achieve a cleaner and healthy environment in Kogi State,under the present Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman.

The State Commissioner for Environment,Mr Joseph Oluwasegun,disclosed this while speaking with selected journalists in Lokoja, the state capital on Thursday

The commissioner declared that the government of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman had given the directive that the Kogi State capital, Lokoja and it’s environs should be given a facelift to achieve a sustainable cleaner environment in the years ahead.

He said his Ministry had successfully waged a well coordinated approach to achieve the desired results in keeping with the directive of the governor.

According to the commissioner, the Ministry is using direct labour, in collaboration with the the Ministry of Works and Housing,to accomplish the tasks ahead,

The commissioner promised that at the end of the ongoing exercise, Kogi State would be one of the states with the cleanest environment in the country.

He called on the people to have attitudinal change in their approach to their environment.

He declared that the rampant cases of open defecation in both the state capital and the rural communities across the state,would soon be a thing of the past, adding that the administration of Alhaji Ododo Ahmed Usman would not condone such unhealthy behavior from the citizens.
