ABU Alumni Association members in kogi felicitate with new Ohimege-Igu of kotonkarfe.

Members of the ABU Alumni Association, Kogi state branch, on Thursday,felicitated with one of their own, the new Ohimege-Igu of Kotonkarfe, kogi Local Government Area of Kogi state, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu.

The Chairman of the branch, Engr. Mohammed Sagir, who led the delegation to kotonkarfe on the visit,comprising his executive council members and some elders of the association, expressed delight over the appointment of the new traditional ruler.

He prayed for a peaceful reign and a long life for the Ohimege-Igu.
Receiving the delegation, the Ohimege-Igu thanked members of the branch for the absolute show of love for him and respect for the traditional institution.

In his response, the Ohimege Igu appreciated members of the Association and thanked them, not only for the visit and the gift, but for continually flying the flag of “our great Association without allowing it to sink into oblivion.”
He disclosed that he had been following the activities of the Association on line, adding that he was overjoyed when Engr. Abdulsalami Mohammed Sagir emerged as the Chairman of the Association recently.
The Royal father commended members for holding fort for the family, spirit, and flag of ABU Alumni Association in high regard and called on them to enhance the tempo.
Our correspondent reports that highlight of the occasion was the presentation of Roll up-banner, showing the picture of the first class traditional, glad in traditional regalia.

Besides the exco members that graced the occasion, the Secretary General of the Association, World wide, Dr.Danjuma Mahmud,Mr.James Oyewole, Dr.Abdul Denja, Mal.Adama Yahaya and Mrs. Wosilat Owuda also attended the event.
Meanwhile,a statement from the Secretary general of the association,world wide, Dr.Danjuma Mahmud indicates that members have shown appreciation to another for his contribution to the development of the association in the state.
He said,”Having returned safely from the visit to HRM Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu Ohimege-Igu of Koton-Karfe, some members, led by Dr. Denja Abdul, Marafan Oworo, paid a thank you visit on our dear member and Ex-Officio I of the ABU Alumni Association Kogi Branch, Alhaji. Ibrahim Isiyaku, GM, Procurement, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).”
According to him, the visit is to appreciate the ex-officio member for providing transportation for the visitation to the Ohimege-Igu as well as for his “numerous contributions, support, passion and commitment to the Association and his Alma mater the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.”
