By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja.
The Operatives of the Police Command attached to Quick Response Unit, Kogi state, have arrested six suspects in connection with the attack they allegedly carried out on the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial district, Isa Jibrin Echocho at the Government House, Lokoja on Tuesday.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP William Ovie Aya in Lokoja on Wednesday.
The PPRO quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Bertrand C. Onuoha, as condemning the attack and described the development ” as very unfortunate, unwarranted, despicable” and ordered a discreet investigation into the case.
CP Onuoha assured the people that the suspects would be charged to Court, immediately, to serve as a deterrent to others.
He appealed to the good people of the State to remain law abiding and continue to collaborate with the police, and other security agencies as well as volunteer timely and credible information on the activities of criminal elements in the state.
The six suspects were arrested on the order of Governor Yahaya Bello who has also ordered their immediate prosecution.
The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Bello, Onogu Mohammed stated this in a statement on Wednesday in Lokoja.
He said the governor had consequently banned unauthorized persons from accessing the government henceforth.
