Scarcity of potable water in Lokoja ceases,residents sigh relief.

Residents of Lokoja, kogi state,north central Nigeria, have expressed a sigh of relief, following the restoration of supply of potable water to the public, the Reporters’investigation revealed.
Our correspondent, who visited some areas of the state capital on Friday reports that many taps in various homes ran water and many did as at the time of this report up til Friday evening.
The General Manager, Kogi State Water Board, Engr.Mohammed Sagir,who confirmed Reporters’finding on the issue,acknowledged in a statement
he sent to our correspondent, that Gadumo area and others started having water supply as from Thursday.
He, however, advised residents where water had not returned to contact local plumbers to check the problem affecting their pipe lines.
“Also, we have disconnected some areas with unattended leakages,”he said.
The step,The Reporters gathered,is for the board to avoid wasting of public water.
Our correspondent recalls that the general manager had earlier informed the online publication,in a statement, that voltage drop in power supply which affected electric motors in the equipment used in pumping water to the public,was responsible for the scarcity.
He then assured the public that “work is progressing” to rectify the problem.
Some residents,in a chat with our correspondent, described the return of public water to the area as a big relief, both at level of domestic and commercial usage of the precious commodity.
