The prayer of motorists and other road users plying the zone 8 road, Lokoja, kogi state, north central Nigeria, seems to be answered as government began the rehabilitation of the remaining portion of the road recently.
Our correspondent who visited the road on Monday reports sighting caterpillar and other earth-moving equipment working on the road.
Recall that similar work was carried out from round about of the road up to the state sports stadium, early 2023,when the then presidential candidate of APC and now the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, planned to come to Lokoja for presidential campaign.
Some of the motorists who spoke with The Reporters on the road described its rehabilitation as “well over due” due to its strategic importance to the social and economic development of the state.
They, however, expressed joy over the development and called for faithful work and speedy completion of the rehabilitation, to safe motorists from the agony being experienced plying the road as well as the effects on their vehicles.
Our reports that the road leads to the State House of Assembly, High court, News Agency of Nigeria office,NAN,Zone 8 Nigeria Police Force, and many state and federal agencies, coupled with springing up commercial and residential buildings.
