,,,,,The untold changing face of tax administration in Kogi state.
By Otori Ozigi.

There is no gainsaying the fact that the GYB midas touch,is being felt in the dynamics of tax administration in the state, since he assumed office in 2016.
Before his coming to office, the IGR of the state under previous administrations, consistently stood at the paltry sum of N300m monthly.
But in his determination to Change the narrative, the dynamic Governor set the machinery in motion by granting autonomy to the state revenue service, in a bid to engineer new revenue drive that would translate into increase in IGR.
Under the new dispensation, the state government appointed men of proven records of competence and capacity, to run the affairs of the service.
Their collective efforts paid off eventually as the service have been posting no fewer than N1.5b monthly IGR averagely.
The current Executive chairman of the service, Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe ,was full of commendation to the Governor, for his unalloyed support in the running of KGIRS.
He was optimistic that the service would surpass the N23b target set for 2023.It recorded about N18b last year.
As at August, 2023,the service has generated no fewer than N19b IGR,between January and August,a feat he attributed to the renewed revenue drive and the enabling environment put in place for optimal performance by the workforce.
From all indications, better days are ahead for tax administration in the state.
