ABU urges alumni for increased assistance.

Members of the ABU Alumni Association have been urged not to relent in paying back to Ahmadu Bello University,Zaria as the institution grasps with the reality of lean financial resources and limited facilities in executing its statutory responsibility.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof.Kabir Bala, gave the advice on Saturday when he declared open, ABU 16th Alumni Association Annual General Assembly/Home coming 2023 at the Samaru campus of the institution in Zaria.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Danladi Ahmadu Ameh, the VC said that the university had 18 faculties and 110 academic departments, adding that it had been growing in strength and size with success story but with limited financial resources.
He commended the alumni association for its efforts in paying back to the institution but called for increased efforts in its response to the needs of the University.
Prof.Bala disclosed that the university had put an endowment in place to sustain its funding, managed by members with impeccable character.
He added that the institution had fine tuned and refocused on its revenue to ensure better performance and keep the image of the university flying.
Prof. Bala called on the delegates to have a robust discussion, dissect and proffer solution to issues concerning their alma mata.

In his remarks, the outgoing President World-wide of the association,Dr .Ibrahim Sani Khalil, expressed delight over the large turn out of members at the event despite the harsh economic reality in the country.
He called on the alumni to continue doing their best for the university, adding that the association would also increase up efforts in coming to assistance of the institution .

Our correspondent reports that members are expected to elect a new national executive council for two years.
One of the highlights at the occasion was the inauguration of the the association’s portal,to facilitate transmission of information and boost communication among members.
The occasion was done by the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof.Kabiru Bala.
