The event,which attracted high the calibre of people is meant to mark the creation of kogi state on August 27,1991.
The Publisher of The Nigerian Post, Mr.Michael Abu,said the lecture series is the modest way of the media organisation to join hands with others in boosting social, economic and political development the state.
He commended the present administration in the state and the previous ones for making the state work.
Abu expressed optimism that the lecture,entitled,”Sustaining Unity,Peace of The Confluence,This House Must Not Fall,”would provide lasting solution to political and other challenges, confronting the state,especially as the November 11,Governorship governor gathered momentum, “so that this house called kogi states does not fall.”
He called on politicians to play the game by the rule during and after the forthcoming governorship poll to ensure peaceful election.
Our correspondent reports that the Commissioner for Education,Science and Technology,Mr. Wemi Jones represented the Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahay Bello at the occasion.
The Chairman of the occasion,Alhaji Suleiman Babaali,represented by Alhaji Adama Yahaya,in his keynote address,noted that the title of the lecture “is apt and called for sober reflection.”
The chairman,who traced the leadership history of Kogi state is blessed with enormous human and natural resources commended Governor Bello for his consistency in harnessing them in ensuring the pace of development of the state through purposeful leadership with national and international awards.
He called on the people of the state to work together and build a united kogi state,devoid of divisive expressions so that “This House Must Not Fall.”
Governor Yahaya Bello was given the “Man of The Year Award On Fiscal Transparency”while 23 other personalities received various awards for their contributions towards the development of the state.
