By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja.
The Kogi State Radio Corporation, otherwise known as Radio kogi, is back on air, The Reporters gathered.
A senior Journalist with the radio station, who wants to remain anonymous, disclosed this to The Reporters’correspondent in a telephone chat in Lokoja on Tuesday.
He, said:”We thank God that Radio kogi is back on air after two years of in activity.
“The transmitter has been installed and the engineers commenced test transmission on Monday.
“We are hoping to start full transmission today being Tuesday.”
The Reporters recalls that the radio, created immediately Kogi State was created on August 27,1991, went off the air about two years ago as a result of the break down in its transmitter.
Some members of the public who spoke with our Correspondent at Gadumo, a suburb of Lokoja, on the issue, expressed delight that the radio is back to the media space.
Mal.Halidu Abubakar said with the return of the radio station on air,the people of the state would begin be abreast of social, economic and political happenings in and outside the state, henceforth.
He, however, urged the management of the radio station to guard against the problem that led to the break down of the former transmitter.
Abubakar also called on the state government to quicken the restoration of potable water to Lokoja and its environs within two weeks as promised by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. A. Danga when he spoke with Journalists in Lokoja, few days ago.
Our Correspondent recalls that Lokoja has not have drinkable water since the October 2022 flood that destroyed the equipment pumping water to the public.
