The Major General Benjamin Olufemi award has been designed to support selected 200-level students character-worthy and academically excellent but from a financially disadvantaged background.

During the award ceremony, the amiable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu stated that the awardees are strictly chosen by merit: academic standard, academic performance, good character, abiding by the university’s rules and regulations, dress code adherence, involvement in beneficial activities on behalf of the University, and an efficient curriculum vitae among other requirements.

The University Don also remarked that although only level 200 students are eligible, two 100-level students applied, showing that even they too can compete in their early stage. With this, he advised the students to work hard to attain such scholarship opportunities and to also start preparing their Curriculum Vitae as early as possible so as to secure employment even before graduation.

“We are here to support you in becoming the best that you can imagine. So do not doubt us.” says Prof. Abiodun Musa Aibinu.

The award ceremony has cleared whatever doubt students may have about scholarship opportunities available for students around the world.

Furthermore, the Benjamin Sawyer Scholarship Award received 13 out of 27 applicants who are students of Summit University, Offa, Kwara State, Nigeria, showing their interest and passion for pursuing their education. Despite the stiff competition, two out of the three awardees are females. This further burtress the engagement of females in all facets of life pursuits.

Summit University, Offa, is open to more scholarship schemes that will help in reducing the student-parent financial burden, promote students’ academic goals and help them pursue bigger and better opportunities home and abroad.

Education is the bedrock of every Nation’s development, and with scholarship opportunities, students have higher chances of achieving their dreams at any level of study.

So just as the Major Benjamin Sawyer scholarship award had ignited the fire in students to attain greater heights, so will other programmes help keep the fire burning for they are the leaders of tomorrow and it is the institution’s job to support them in their career journey.
