Prominent statesman dies in kogi

The death has been announced of one of the statesmen in Okengwen District of Okene Local Governnent Area of kogi state, Alhaji Ishaku Abdullahi, fondly called 2c.

According to family sources, Alhaji Abdullahi died in Okengwen on Tuesday during a brief illness and has been buried according to Islamic injunction.

Our Correspondent gathered that the deceased, said to be in his early 80’s before his demise, was a retired civil servant.

Family sources further disclosed that the late Abdullahi started his public service career in the then North Nigerian Governnent in early 60s.

He transferred his public service to Kwara state when the state was created in 1967, where he worked in various ministries and establishments, including the Government House, Ilorin.

Upon the creation of kogi state,carved out of Kwara and Benue states on August 27,1991, the late elder statesman, again, transferred his service to Kogi atate and worked in some local government councils.

He retired after 35 years of merritorious public service to father land many years upon attaining 60 years.

Some members of the public,who spoke with our Correspondent in Okengwen and Lokoja, in separate telephone interview, described the death of Alhaji Ishaku Abdullahi as a rude shock.

They described the deceased as an easy going man, peace maker, community leader, always ready to uplift others in whatever way possible and above all, God-fearing among other cherished qualities he was known for while alive.

The sympathizers prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased his shortcomings and grant him aljanah firduasi as well as give his family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss..

He is survived by two wives,many children and grandchildren.
