Salem university graduates 962 students, 58 first class

Salem University, Lokoja, Kogi State on Friday graduated 960 students, including 58 first class in its combined 5th convocation ceremony.

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Johnson Alewo Akubo, said that
the university had worked assiduously to maintain a clean bill of health in the accreditation of all its programmes by the National Universities Commission.NUC.

He further disclosed that 36 of the first set of law graduates from College of Law of the university had been effectively mobilised for the next batch of mandatory one year law school programme.

“Again the run of play ,Salem University made her way into the first 2,000 Universities in the world. Only 48 Nigerian universities made this cut,”he said.

The VC,who reminded the graduands that “,global leadership is all about making positive impact,in and outside of the seasons of life”, called on them to remain good ambassadors of the SALEM brand in and out of season.

The Acting Pro Chancellor of the institution, Bishop Enobong Etteh, said as graduands of faith-based university, the graduates were “groomed to be role models ,the light of the world ,the salt of the earth and the promoters of peace and patriotism”.

“We expect you to be good ambassadors of Salem University in deeds and character,”he told the graduands.

In his remarks, the Acting Chancellor of the university, Hon.Justice Stephen Jonah Adah, called on the graduands to see themselves as a well baked changed agents, adding that now is that for them to go out, shine and change their world.

The Governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaha Bello, commended the university for being a valued partner in the process of providing quality of educatuon for the people of the state as well as playing its corporate social responsibility, effectively to its immediate community and the state at large.

Bello, who was represented by the Commissioner for Educatuon, Science And Technology,Mr Wemi Jones, also praised the institution for bridging admission gap in state.

He promised continued commitment of his administration in the area of security, not only to the university but the state to attract investors to the state.

Our Correspondent reports that 813 obtained first degree and 149 bagged master’s degree while graduands who excelled in their various disciples were given prizes.

Representatives of higher institutions, in and outside the state, among others attendees graced the occasion.

Salem University was established 2008 by Arch Bishop Sam Amaga,the Arch Bishop of Foundation Faith Church and began academic activities in 2009.
