As 2023 general elections gather momentum, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Senator Baba Ahmed Datti, has urged Nigerians to ignore politicians who had nothing to offer except using religious and tribal sentiments to set citizens against one other.

He also urged electorate to vote out politicians who had outlived their usefulness in the polical dispensation of the country in next year general electíons.

Senator Datti gave the advice in an interview with Journalists in Minna,Niger state, on the sideline of the town-hall meeting he held with key stakeholders in the state, including state party leadership, Coalition of Obi/Datti Support Groups abd aspirants for the various elective positions ahead of next year’s general election.

According to him, the crop of polical leaders Nigeria needs in 2023 are those who display credibility, competence, impeccable character, equity, fairness and justice, adding that only such leaders can save Nigeria from disintegration.

Datti told the crowd, mostly youths that gathered at Vagosh Hotel, Minna, venue of the meeting, that what should be paramount to the electorate would be to have their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and coming out to vote out politicians who had outlived their usefulness..

He said leaders advancing divisive tendencies to continue to remain in power, against interest of entire citizenry, should have no pride of place in the next political dispensation in the country.

Datti said,“When politicians who have nothing to cover up their lies and lack ideas to resolve the mileage of problems Nigeria is facing, they will look for anything to create confusion, religious and tribal comes handy, hence Nigerians should not to fall for their antics”.

Senator Datti, who said he was in the state as part of facility tour of 13 northern states added,“In order to confuse the electorate to continue to extend the suffering and hardship impoverished citizens are going through, they will use sensitive issues like religious and tribal differences for them to remain in power and advance their personal cause”.

The LP Vice Presidential candidate also encouraged electorate to ignore propaganda by presidential candidates of some political parties claiming that they have ‘structures’ to advance their 2023 cause, reminding Nigerians that were the structure would decide the president that would take over from President Muhammadu Buhari next year.

He said, “When they are short of words to continue to deceive us in order to continue to remain in power, they will brain wash our religious leaders to use religion to divide us as a people. Say not to them, get your PVCs and vote them out”.
