Unknown gunmen have abducted a traditional ruler and his wife and their driver in Kwara state and their driver, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO for the Police Command in the state,SP Okasanmi Ajayi, disclosed.
Ajayi made the disclosure on Sunday in a statement he made available to Journalists in Ilorin and a copy available to The Reporters.
The PPRO said that at about 1645hrs of 1/10/2022, the command received information,to the effect that the traditional ruler of Owa Onire in Ifelodun Local Governnent Area of Kwara State,Oba Abdulrahman Ifabiyi, his wife and driver were abducted by unknown armed men.
Ajayi, who not disclose the names of other victims, added that the new Commissioner of Police in the state,CP Paul Odama, immediately dispatched police tactical teams with vigilante and hunters to the area.
According to him, the CP’s order was that the teams should rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.
“The efforts of the teams led to the rescue of the abducted wife of the traditional ruler while two of the suspects involved in the kidnap by name Bello Abubakr ‘M’ 31 yrs and Bawa Seketri ‘M’ 30yrs were arrested.
“They are helping the Command in its investigation, effort to rescue the traditional ruler and his driver ongoing while the rescued wife has been released to join her family,” he further disclosed.
