The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released 2022 Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) (internal) results and recommended four schools for de-recognition for two years for involvement in mass cheating/whole school cases.
Our Correspondent gathered that 1, 209, 703, comprising 636, 327 males and 573, 376 females, registered for the 2022 SSCE (internal), but 1, 198, 412 with more of the male than the female that registered actually sat for the examinations.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Council, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, while announcing the results in Minna on Thursday,said 29 Supervisors were blacklisted for various offenses ranging from poor supervision, insults, aiding and abetting during the examinations.
He added that 13, 594 candidates, representing 0.13% were involved in various forms of malpractices within the period under review, adding that the number was lower than the number of cases recorded in 2021 for the same offence he put at 20, 003, representing, 1.63% cases of malpractice.
The number of candidates with special needs registering for and sitting for NECO examinations has also increased to 1, 031 including 98 candidates with albinism, 177 with autism, 574 with hearing impairment and 107 visually impaired participated in this year’s examination compared to that of last year with less number of physically challenged candidates.
He also disclosed that, 889, 188 candidates, representing 74.89% made Credit and above in English language while the number of candidates who made Credit and above in Mathematics stands at, 929, 140 representing 78.23%.
“Also, 1, 011, 457 candidates, representing 84.40% made 5 Credits and above irrespective of English language, Mathematics when compared to last year with 1, 153, 716, representing 94.04%,” he said.
Dantani noted that NECO continued to make impressive in roads to ensuring that all its examinations stand the test of time with improvements in the various segments of the Council.
Part of the achievements so far,he added include, establishment of data centre for protection, storage and as well, data analysis laboratory for effective research and data analysis of the Council.
Improving and sustaining cordial working relationship between labour unions and the Council, in addition to providing e-library with fully acquired e-Grenary data base for easy access to current knowledge materials, according to NECO boss.
