Correspondent in Lokoja.
Thousands of motorists and other road users plying the 7-kilometre Ganaja road in Lokoja, kogi State to either east or north part of Nigeria, experienced gridlock on the road between Sunday and Monday, sequel to the deplorable condition of the Ganaja village section of the road.
The Reporters’ correspondent, who visited the road on Monday said men and officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission,FRSC, sweating it to ease gridlock.
Some of the motorists who spoke with our Correspondent wondered how long they would be made to suffer plying the terrible road, reiterated their call on the federal government to complete the rehabilitation of the road.
Ganaja road, constructed over 30 years ago and which has played strategic role in the transportation sector of kogi and Nigerian economy, went dilapidated some years ago.

One of numerous bad portions of the road close to Ganaja village.
Given the sorry state of its existence, the federal government commenced the rehabilitation of the road November 2021 but is only visible between Ganaja bridge and Aniebo housing estate, leaving the remaining axis down to Ganaja village in dire need of rehabilitation.
Earth moving equipment and engineers left the road about three months ago, leaving motorists bewildered as to when the remaining portion of the road will be rehabilitated.
Efforts to get to the Federal Controller of roads in the state,Engr. Jimoh Kajogbola, for his comment on the issue proved abortive as numerous phone calls put across to him by our Correspondent received no response.
