Teenager allegedly hanged self for failing promotion exam

Adegoke Adeyemi (17), a student of Offa grammar school in Kwara state, has allegedly hanged himself as a result of his failure to pass his promotion examination from SS1 to SS 2.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state,SP Okasanmi Ajayi,made the disclosure in a statement a copy of which was made available to The Reporters on Wednesday.

According to Ajayi, Adeyemi was asked to repeat the class before allegedly committing the crime against himself.

“Information was received by the Divisional Police Officer, Offa, at about 15:34hours of 2/8/2022 to the effect that, a boy’s lifeless body was seen hanging on a tree behind Ariya garden hotel, Offa.

“A team of police men from the Divisional headquarters was swiftly drafted to the scene.

“The victim, who was later identified as Adegoke Adeyemi ‘M’ aged 17years, a student of Offa grammar school, who was believed to have hanged himself as a result of his failure to pass his promotion examination from SS1 to SS 2, which necessitated his being asked to repeat the class.

“The corpse was removed and taken to General hospital Offa for autopsy, while investigation into the matter is ongoing.

“The Commissioner advised parents to monitor their children and show them love at all timee,” he said.
