Abuja-Lokoja road accident claims 7 lives

No fewer than Seven persons lost their lives on Thursday during a motor accident that happened on Abuja- Lokoja road in Kogi State.

Our Correspondent gathered that the auto crash occurred at Akpanya-Koton Karfe axis of the road when a Toyota Hiace bus and DAF Articulated Vehicle collided at about 4.40 a.m.

Sources told The Reporters that five other passengers sustained various degrees of injury in the accident.

Confirming the accident,the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC),Stephen Dawulung, attributed the accident to speed and route violation by either of the drivers of the two vehicles concerned.

He said the injured had been taken Kotonkarfe Hospital for medical attention, adding that the remains of dead had been deposited at the mortuary.

He warned drivers to shun night journey, stressing that many lives had been lost as a result speeding.
