By Correspondent in Kabba.

Contrary to the belief in certain quarters in Kabba and its environs, that there was no casualty in the Sunday evening explosion at a beer parlour at Oke padi in the town, the management of Kabba General Hospital said that the owner of the beer parlour and ten others sustained injury in the incident.

Dr Ibrahim Sule, Head of X-Ray Unit of the hospital, who disclosed this to newsmen in Kabba on Monday, added that the owner of the beer parlour,Mrs Omofemi Oyehunwa and ten other victims were rushed to the hospital.

Dr Sule also said that while the other victims had received medication and discharged, Mrs Oyehunwa remained in the hospital for further test to ascertain her condition before discharging her.

“We have to take her into the X-Ray Unit for her to under take a test on her buttocks, to be sure there is no any foreign object in her body.

“She is out of the X-Ray Unit, walking by herself, which shows that she’s fast recovering from the injury she sustained on her buttocks, ” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO for the Police Command in the state, SP William Ovye-Aya,had earlier told our Correspondent that the Commissioner of Police in the state,CP Edward Egbuka, had dispatched anti-bomb squad to the area to unravel the circumstances that led to the incident.

Also speaking with Journalists,Mrs Oyehunwa described the attack on her business premise, called Diamond Beer Parlour, as “very wicked” and “deadly.”

“Only God saved my life from the blast yesterday (Sunday).

“I give thanks to Him, that I am not just alive, I can still walk in spite of the injury I sustained. I am also grateful to God that nobody died in the incident,” she said.

She called on the state government and the Police in particular to ensure that the culprits are found, arrested and prosecuted, to serve as deterrent to other criminal elements in the state.

The President, Kabba Development Union(KDU), Mr Emmanuel Ajibero, who visited Mrs Oyehunwa in the hospital and the scene of the explosion, condemned the incident.

“This blast that occurred, the second time in Kabba town within a space of 18 days, is callous and unacceptable to us, the citizens of Kabbah-Bunu Local Government Area.

“We want the government and the security agencies to rise to the occasion and do something drastic about these attacks, secure our lives and property from criminal elements and restore our peace, ” Ajibero urged.
