Any member of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, struck by challenges of life but dares the storm to make positive contributions to the society, can always count on the support of the council.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh, gave the commitment on Thursday at the NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja while receiving in audience, a member of the council, Mr Adeniyi Bada, who is sight challenged.
Our Correspondent reports that Bada, a publisher,author and the Overseer of Sword of Fire Evangelical Ministry(SOFEM),was at the office of the chairman of the council to solicit for the moral assistance of the council for the launching of his foundation, Ade-Bada International Foundation,slated for May 27,2022 in Lokoja.
He had urged the chairman to avail him the facilities at the centre and to serve as the Chief host for the event.
Bada,one time executive member of the council, told the chairman that though he became a victim of sight challenge about seven years ago he did not allow his present circumstance to weigh him down or weakens his morale to achieve his aims and objectives in life.
He said that rather than crying over his unfortunate situation,he went ahead to accomplish marveling developments such as writing a book, title “Daring the Storms”, became a motivational speaker and now, the Overseer of Sword of Fire Evangelical Ministry (SWORD),a church where he has been wining many souls for the Lord.
Momohjimoh commended the doggedness of the Journalist turned cleric for shunning bemoaning over his sight challenge by moving forward in life, making meaningful contributions towards the advancement of humanity.
” There is nothing too little or too much for the council to help you,free of charge,to achieve your ambition, particularly in respect of your application to use the Press Centre for the launching of your foundation.
He described Bada as a member of the council whose input in the progress of the council and the practice of Journalism in the state remained legendary.
Momohjimoh urged other members of the society, facing similar challenges to emulate the positive attitude of Bada and take their cross with sense of optimism and hope for bright future.
Our Correspondent reports that Bada also visited the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and The Graphic newspaper all in Nigeria, to solicit for support for the success of his planned event.
The new General Manager of NTA, Lokoja, Alhaji Yahaha Adams, assured his visitor of the coverage of the event by the media house and other events he might have in future and commended him for his contribution to journalism and exibiting uncommon attitude towards trials of life.
Also receiving Bada, the Executive Editor of the state-owned paper,Mr James Oyewole, accepted to be actively involved in the event and commended Bada’s exploits, even as a physically challenged in the society
The Reporters recalls that Ade Bada,as he is popularly called by his colleagues, served as correspondent for some national newspapers before establishing Kogi Express, one of the early private-owned newspapers in Lokoja when kogi state was carved out out of Kwara and Benue States on August 27,1991.
Bada, who also held political appointments in the state in the past, thanked NUJ and the other two media houses for their support, adding that such had spurred him to move forward in the task ahead, knowing that he had the support of his colleagues.
He advised those passing trying time,like him, to stop lamenting but take such circumstance with positive attitude and move on in life, to serve as a shining example to others that “there is ability in disability”.
