Give me mandate to rescue Nigeria, Wike appeals to Nigerians

One of the aspirants for the seat of President of Nigeria on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),come 2023 presidential election, Chief Nyesom Wike, has appealed to Nigerians to give him mandate to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress APC.

Such mandate, he assured, would enable him rescue Nigeria from its various social, economic and political problems.

He made the appeal on Wednesday in Lokoja while speaking with national delegates conference for the party, scheduled for May 28 and May 29.

Wike,who is the Governor of Rivers State, said with the kind of myriad problems facing the country, its citizens needed a leader who knows his onions in leadership, one that is pragmatic, stand by his words and nationalistic in nature to tackle the problems with better results.

“Nigerians need a strong leader to make Nigeria work. A leader that can coordinate and supervise surbudinates effectively in the running of the country, a leader who has energy and with geniune commitment to lead the country.

“These qualities I have and I want to serve Nigeria because I owe my country a lot in terms of provision of purposeful leadership,” he said.

He decried the level of insecurity and other challenges confronting Nigeria, adding that the negative development required meaningful solution,if the country must move further in line with the desire of its peace-loving citizens.

Wike promised to form a national government where every section of the country would have a sense of belonging, if given the mandate.

Earlier in his address of welcome, former Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, described Wike as a strong pillar of PDP in the country as well as a great asset to members of the party in the state and urged delegates to give him their mandate.

Speaking in the same vein, the immediate past of governor of the state,Capt. Idris Wada, also praised Wike for His tremendous contributions to the growth and development of PDP nation wide and advised delegates to give him their trust during the conference.

The state Chairman of the party, Sam. Uhuotu, described Wike is a man of integrity among other enviable qualities he is known for as a leader, adding that he is qualified to lead and salvage Nigeria from its problems, if given the mandate in the next polical dispensation.

Our Correspondent reports that many members of PDP from the National Assembly among others witnessed the occasion.
