Senate Passes Bill For Establishment of FCE (Special),Afon

The Senate has passed a Bill forvtye establishment of Federal College of Education (Special), Afon in Kwara State.

Our Correspondent reports that the Senators overwhelming supported the passage of the Bill, tagged “Federal College of Education (Special) Afon, Kwara State ( Establishment) Bill 2022.”

Their action followed the presentation of report by the Chairman,Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETfund, Senator Ahmed Babna-Kaita at the Senate.

The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, while praising the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund for carrying out a thorough exercise on the Bill, directed the Clerk of the Senate to read the Bill for the third time and prepare a clean copy for President Muhammadu’s Buhari’s assent.

The Reporters recalls that the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and Tetfund had,last Month, held Public Hearing on the Bill, sponsored by the Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe.

At the occasion, all stakeholders expressed desirability for the establishment of the institution in Afon.

Speaking after the passage of the Bill,Senator Oloriegbe commend the Senate for ensuring its passage and assured that he would continue to dedicate himself towards ensuring accelerated development of his Senatorial District and the well-being of his Constituents.

Also reacting to the development,the Baale of Afon, Alhaji Ibrahim Adelodun, the TIC chairman of Asa Local Government Council, Alhaji Abdul Ganiyu Saadu, the District Head of Afon, Alhaji Kola Hanafi and Dr Ibrahim Abdullahi, on behalf of the Elite, expressed delight vover the passage of the Bill.

They praised the Senate, President Muhammadu Buhari, Senator Oloriegbe, the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari and the Emir of Ilorin,Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, for their commitments in ensuring that the people at the grassroots enjoy federal presence.

The stakeholders appealed to the President to assent to the Bill, to ensure early take – off of the institution.

The Reporters recalls that Afon is also the host community to the first Governnent Secondary School which marked its 45th anniversary recently with most of its old students within and outside Nigeria, as well as the current students in attendance.
