The Police Command in Niger state has confirmed the killing of a Minna- based business man, Hassan Shehu, by a yet-to-be identified suspect at Tudun-Fulani area of Bosso Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

Our Correspondent gathered that Shehu, aged 28, who until his death was a business man at the Minna main market, it was learnt, had visited a friend and at Tudun-Fulani after the day’s hustles with ‘large’ sum of money.

Though it was not immediately known why the deceased who deals in gold decided to close earlier than normal closing hour for the visit that claimed his life with all the money he made from sales,

“While their discussion lasted, an argument between the two friends suddenly ensued, but the noise soon died down with increasing sound of music emanating from the friend’s apartment, this is all we know about the man, an eyewitness from the neighbourhood said.

The lifeless body of Shehu was later discovered in a pool of his blood with cuts on his neck suspected to be that of sharp knife (daga) used in stabbing him to death inside his friend’s apartment while the said friend disappeared with Hassan’s car and all its contents.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state, DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun, who confirmed the murder in a statement, said the deceased was invited for a business deal by a friend at Tudun-Fulani but the deal turned sour.

“Following a distress call on the police at Tudun-Fulani, the lifeless body of Shehu was recovered from the area. Preliminary investigations show that Shehu was stabbed to death on the neck, a case of suspected culpable homicide,” PPRO said.

The PPRO further said that, “Late Shehu who dealt on gold trinkets at the Minna main market, met his untimely death when he was invited to Tudun-Fulani by a supposed friend, one Bashir, who is presently at large, to sell some items to him”.
