The Commissioner of Police in charge of Kwara State Command,CP Tuesday Assayomo, has directed that perpetrators of the killing that occured at Oja Gboro area of Ilorin on Monday evening be arrested and be made to face prosecution.
Assayomo,who gave the order on Monday in Ilorin, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,SP Ajayi Okasanmi and a copy made available to The Reporters, assured the good people of the State of “his total disdain for crimes and criminality.”
He said his order became necessary as an aftermath of killing on Monday at about 1930hrs, by suspected cultist(s) at the scene of the incident.
The CP explained:” A sound of gunshot prompted the racing of policemen on surveillance patrol of Gambari area of Ilorin to the scene of the sound.
“At the scene, a body of an unidentified adult was found lying in the pool of his blood, a gunshot injury to his head was observed, the victim was quickly rushed to UITH. “He was confirmed dead after an examination by the doctor on duty.
“In a bid to identify the victim,a search on his body was conducted, nothing was found in his pockets to identify him except some weeds suspected to be indian hemp. However the body has been deposited at the same hospital mortuary for autopsy.”
According to the police boss, the command has mounted aggressive manhunt for the culprit(s).
The commissioner of police, therefore,advised parents and guidance to monitor the movement of their children and wards to avoid acts capable of truncating their future, warning that “anybody arrested for any act of criminality will be made to suffer the consequences.”
