Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has described the sudden death of two of the security aides attached to him as most painful and heart-rendering.
He stated this while expressing grief over the Wednesday evening tragic death of two police officers attached to him,in a statement signed by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Ikechukwu Eze in Abuja on Wednesday.
Our Correspondent gathered that the two police personnel met their death in a road crash on Wednesday at the vicinity of the Abuja airport while the immediate past president was on his way out of the airport.
He stated that the sudden death of the two security details had thrown him into deep mourning, noting that the deceased: Inspectors Ibrahim Abazi and Yakubu Toma were fine officers, known for dedication to their duties and service to the nation.
“Two other officers sustained injuries in the accident which involved a car conveying the security men. They were rushed to a hospital in Abuja where they are responding to treatment.
“The office of the former President has offered condolences to the families of the bereaved and the Police High Command,” Eze said.
Jonathan prayed God to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest and bless their families as well as give the nation the fortitude to bear the loss.
