The Police Command in Kwara state has launched a man-hunt for the arrest of a man who allegedly had sex with a suspected female ritualist.
The Reporters gathered that the suspected ritualist(name withheld),who is cooling it off in the police net in Ilorin,is also suspected of mental unbalance.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Police Command in the state,SP Ajayi Okasanmi, disclosed this from Ilorin during a telephone interview with the Correspondent of The Reporters on Thursday.
According to him, investigation revealed that some men had been visiting the female suspect, because they believe that she is a ritualist who could help them solve one problem or the other.
Earlier in his statement on the issue, Okasanmi said:” The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform members of the public about the arrest of a suspected ritualist.
The suspect who appearers to be mentally unbalanced,was arrested by the men of Kulende Divisional Police Headquarters, Ilorin in conjunction with members of the community.
“Intelligence available to the Command prompted the surveillance mounted around the area;the base of the suspected ritualist which led to her arrest on Thursday (17/3/2022) at about 0600hrs.
“In the process of her arrest, a man in a black SUV Jeep,found with the suspect, zoomed off immediately he noticed the presence of the police.
“Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing man.
“In course of the arrest, school uniforms, note books, text books and monies of different denominations, totalling one hundred and sixty-six thousand and seven hundred naira (N166,700:00) were found in her possession.
Ajayi qouted the suspect as stating that the man who met with her as at the time of the arrest, came to have sex with her and to give her water.
The PPRO said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Tuesday Assayomo, had ordered discreet investigation into the matter and directed the suspect be taken to the hospital, to ascertain the true condition of her mental health.
