Some members of the public, cutting across the spectrum of the society, who spoke with our Correspondent, described the issue of hike in the price of fuel and kerosene as a serious development needing government urgent attention, to make life bearable for the masses.
“Can you imagine the astronomical jump in the price of kerosene from N220 to N660, not to talk of fuel, things are really getting tough for the masses. I am urging government to do the needful, in terms of ensuring that prices of these petroleum products come down.
“When their prices come down, they will have positive multiplier effects on essential goods and services, most especially food items, the price of which has really hit the roof, making life unbearable for the masses.
“Only God is saving many homes now. “When our husbands give us money to go to the market and buy food stuffs for the family, they expect some reasonable quantity of goods that we used the money to buy. This is no more the case as we return home with half of the value of what the money can buy. If care is not taken, suspicion can come in between husband and wife
“Prices of every food item one can think of has gone beyond the purchasing capacity of an average buyer in the market, due to hike in the price of virtually every consumable and consumable item,”. Mrs Amina Mohammed, a wife house with four children told our in an interview.
