The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaha Bello, on Friday, installed the 28th Ata Igala, HRM Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Oguche in Idah with a call on him to uniteĀ theĀ Igala Kingdom toward ensuring towards Ā socio economic development ofĀ theĀ kingdom and the country at large.
Our Correspondent reports that theĀ new Atta was administered the oath of office and allegiance at exactly 1:12p.m by Barr. Dangana Ocheja inĀ theĀ full glare of thousands of onlookers from within and outsideĀ theĀ state.
Gov. Bello,who congratulatedĀ theĀ new Ata Igala, described his peaceful emergence as his administrationās determination to uphold equity, justice and in following due process andĀ theĀ rule of law.
Bello,who expressed satisfaction that his administration had graded and upgraded over 100 chieftaincy stools, added that none of such upgrade witness rancour, a development, he noted,hinged on leadership andĀ politicalĀ will of his administration.
TheĀ Governor describedĀ theĀ era of impositing traditional rulers onĀ theĀ people as a thing ofĀ theĀ past and expressed satisfaction thatĀ theĀ mammoth crowd that gracedĀ theĀ occasion was a measure of acceptance.
He describedĀ theĀ emergence ofĀ theĀ Ata Igala as historic and, urgedĀ theĀ Royal father to reach out to those who contested with him and extend his hands of fellowship and warned againstĀ theĀ politicization ofĀ theĀ State Igala stool.
TheĀ Governor reiterated his administrationās commitment towardsĀ theĀ welfare of members ofĀ traditional institution inĀ theĀ state.
Bello paid glowing tribute toĀ theĀ immediate past Ata Igala, late Chief Michael Idakwo, describing him as a man passionate about peace and development.
In his response, the new traditional ruler promised to useĀ his title in galvernizingĀ theĀ people for Ā socio-economic development of the kingdom and theĀ country at large.
