FRSC seeks Emir of Ilorin’s Support for safer road in Kwara

Assistant Corps Marshal Hyginus Omeje, the Zonal Commanding officer
(ZCO), Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) RS8HQ, in Kwara state on Wednesday, sought the support of the Emir of Ilorin, HRH, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari (CFR) to boost the efforts of the Corps in ensuring safety of life and property on road in the state.

Omeje,who solicited the support of the traditional institution in the state when he paid courtesy visit to the Emir, said he was in the palace of the royal father to achieve the Corps’ mandate aimed at reducing Road Traffic Crash (RTC) and creating a safe motoring environment in the state.

The ZCO also sought enhanced relationship between the command and the Emir, to enhance citizen’s obedience to traffic law and improved safety awareness.

He assured the Emir of continued public enlightenment programmes, to sensitize the public on road safety matters, adding the exercise it is everyone’s business.

“I am here today on a courtesy visit, to you as a respected traditional head in Kwara.

“I was posted to the state last year as the ZCO of the FRSC, RS8HQ which supervises Kwara, Ekiti and Kogi states.

“I solicit your royal support and enhanced relationship between the Corps and the people of Kwara state, in order to reduce crashes on our highways and bring road safety consciousness to the public.

“The Corps is committed to ensuring that we have safer roads in the state and across the country”, Omeje said.

Responding, the Emir assured the Corps of his support to ensure proper road attitude and safety of motorists and other road users in the state but urged the Corps to intensify efforts on public awareness and enlightenment to further reduce road crashes in the state.
