Correspondent in Lokoja.

Many residents of Kabba, headquarters of Kabba-Bunu Local Governnent Area of kogi state on Saturday, stagged violent protested over alleged killing of a boy by a police man in the town, following argument over a sachet of table water.

Our Correspondent gathered that the protesters barricaded the police station in Kabba, chanting war songs destroying police facilities while police dispelled them with tear gas.

Sources in the area told The Reporters that trouble started when the said boy allegedly took a sachet of pure water belonging to the policeman from his car to drink, apparently to the disapproval of the police man.

The developmnt, they added, led to argument between the police man, whose identity could not be ascertained as at the time of this report and the boy which eventually resulted to the death of the boy.

Reacting to the issue in a telephone interview with The Reporters in Lokoja, Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka who confirmed the incident, said the command had commenced investigation into the matter.

According to the police boss, preliminary report he got from the Area Commander of Police in the area indicates that the policeman was trying to defend himself when the tragedy struck.
