Breaking: Former Governor of Oyo state is dead

Former Governor of Oyo State. Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala(72) is dead,as Nigerians mourn the death of the former Head of Interim National Government,Chief Ernest Shonekan,the Abese of Egbaland who died in Lagos on Tuesday at 85.

His death,which became public on Wednesday, remained sketchy as at the time of this report, but our Correspondent gathered that his demise marks third in the series of death of prominent indigenes of Ogbomosho, his home town, within a month now.

However,a source said that the deceased who had been coping with a terminal disease,was found dead in his room on Wednesday in Ogbomoso.

The Reporters recalls that the historic town was struck with tragedy when its traditional ruler,the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade, died followed by his daughter, Professor Taibat Danmole(71).

According sources, the late Akala was born on June 3, 1950 at Ogbomoso in the Ogbomoso North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

He had his elementary school at Osupa Baptist Day School, Ogbomoso and proceeded to Kamina Barracks Middle School, 5th Battalion of Infantry in Tamale, Ghana.

He later venture into politics, contested election and won to be the Governor of Oyo state the position he occupied between 2007 and 2011.
