The Commandant,Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSCDC), Kwara State Command, Makinde Iskil Ayinla, has appealed to traditional rulers and community heads in the State to work towards peaceful coexistence between farmers and herdsmen in their communities to end incessant farmer and herdsmen clashes in the State.
He made the appeal while reacting to
to the two separate Fulani and farmers bloody clashes recorded in Alapa and Patigi towns of Asa and Edu local government areas of the State respectively over the weekend.
Ayinla, whose appeal is contained in a statement signed by the spokesman of the Corps, Babawale Afolabi on Sunday in Ilorin and a copy made available to The Reporters,an online publication, frowned at the geometrical rate of Fulani and herders clashes in some of the communities in the State.
He, however, assured that efforts were on by the corps to meet the royal fathers and village heads in order to find lasting solutions to the crises.
He explained further that security had been beefed up in the affected communities, adding that there would soon be a stakeholders forum, comprising representatives of the village heads, Fulani herders, farmers and the security agencies in order to find lasting solutions to the crises.
