The 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji,who joined his ancestors at 93 is to be buried 4 p.m on Sunday, according to palace sources.
Our Correspondent gathered that the late traditional ruler who died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan in the early hours of Sunday during an illness, was installed as Olubadan on March 4, 2016.
History has it that the late Olubadan, the eldest of the 17 children of his parents, was born on August 28, 1928 to the family of Raji Olayiwola and Suwebat Amope Adetunij in Ibadan.
He took over from Oba Samuel Odulana Odungade 1,who reigned between 2007 and 2016.
Meanwhile the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has mourned the demise of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
The Governor, in a Press Statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Muhammed Onogwu, described the death of the traditional ruler as a national loss noting that Nigeria had lost another of its very important traditional father.
Governor Bello noted that although the Olubadan’s death came at a very ripe age, his role as an advocate of peace and unity would be sorely missed in the state, the region and the country at large
He condoled with the Oyo State traditional council, the Oyo State government and the entire south west region over the death of the traditional ruler, acknowledging that the traditional ruler lived a life, leading his people and described that as a great accomplishment.
The Governor also extended his condolences to the family of the late Olubadan, urging them to take comfort in the fact that,the royal father lived a life well spent on earth.
Governor Bello prayed God to grant the late monarch, eternal rest and also enable those hurt by his death the fortitude to bear such loss.
