All eyes on “Agbaja Day”, Nov.27, President, Agbaja Welfare Association says

All roads lead to
Agbaja in Lokoja Local Governnent Area of Kogi State on Saturday, November 27th, 2021, as the sons and daughters as well their well-wisher will troop to the historic community to celebrate the third edition of “Agba Day” with the theme: “AGBAJA FOR PROGRESS”.

This is contained in a release signed by the President, Agbaja Welfare Association,(AWA),Mr Oloniyo O. Aiyesimi and made available to The Reporters,an online publication by the Adviser to the Organizing Committee for the Day, Alhaji(Dr) Denja Abdul, Marafa of Oworo land on Monday in Lokoja.

Aiyesimi said AWA was conceived on December 25,1989, by sons and daughters of Agbaja extraction, to champion the concept of their welfare, ensure their socio-economic advancement, foster unity and development of their place of birth.

He said: The first and second edition of the Day were celebrated in 1998 and 2000 respectively. On Saturday November 27th, 2021, the third edition of Agbaja Day Celebration is expected to bring Agbaja sons and daughters, including friends, foremost organisations and friends of Agbaja together in Agbaja for interactions..

“It is also to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the people.

“There is high expectation of attendance and donation, the proceeds shall be channeled into rehabilitation of Agbaja/Igbonla Junction stretch of Agbaja/Lokoja road”.

Other projects where the proceeds would be expended,he added, are:”Osika/Aluju newly opened road and fencing of Agbaja Police Post, to enhance socio-economic activities of the inhabitants, promote all seasons and fadama farming and improve on security architecture of Agbaja and its environs.”

Aiyesimi called on all sons and daughters of Agbaja to be part of the history of their ancestral home during the occasion.
