The peaceful atmospheric condition that ushered in the Anambra State Governorship election on Saturday, seems punctured by malfunctioning of voting machines in many polling units in the exercise.
Our Correspondent monitoring the exercise reports that many voters that turned out to vote but could not do so as they were told by electoral Officers that some of the machines were not functioning.
The online publication reports that Dr Charles Soludo, the Governorship candidate of APGA, who turned up at Isiofia polling unit to cast his vote could not do so as about 1.30 p.m.due to same problem.
The same developmnt came up at Enugu-Ukwu and some other areas that our Correspondent visited, where many voters expreeesed worry over the development.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Nkem Okeke, member, House of Representatives,Ferdinand Dozie Nwakwo, Andy Uba and other politicians of note in the state were,however, able to cast their votes in their respective polling unit.
Some voters who spoke with our Correspondent, expressed fear of coming out to cast their while others called for the extension of voting period, in view of the challenges posed by malfunctioning of voting machines and political aparthy.
They argued that the extension would enable more voters to cast their votes and feel satisfied that they voted and for the candidate of their choice.
The voters, however, expresed delight that the exercise had been without security problem and commended the various security agencies for a good job.
