Anambra State Governorship election, scheduled for Saturday, has kicked-off on a peaceful note with eligible voters trooping out to exercise their civic responsibility of electing the candidate of their choice as the next Governor of the state.
Our Correspondent monitoring the exercise in Awka South,reports that there was no hitches at the time of this report as the early exercise was going on with air of tranquility but being watched by stern-looking security personnel to check any likelihood of of crisis.
According our Correspondent, INEC officials as well as adhoc staff, detained for the exercise, were seen at their various posts carrying out one function or the other, warming to commence accreditation of voters, to ensure smooth and peaceful election.
The Reporters gathered that 18 political parties are fielding candidates for the election with the hope that one of them will take over the mantle of leadership of the state from the current Governor, Chief Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
