By Correspondent in Lokoja.

Residents of some parts in Lokoja, Kogi state capital on Wednesday, woke up to the gushing out of potable water in their pumps, amidst sighing of relief to many days of scarcity of drinkable water in the area.

Our Correspondent reports that the water returned to the area, far into the night of Tuesday when most residents had gone to bed.

Many house wives and their children as well as house helps were at Gadumo quarters,as early as 4.a.m, fetching water from pumps amid jubilation.

Some residents said they had to wake up in the night to fetch the water, due to their eagerness to have such an essential commodity and not to miss the golden opportunity which has eluded them for many days.

They residents called on the relevant authorities in the state to find lasting solution to scarcity of potable water, in view of the fact that dry season is fast approaching and the unique Lokoja hot weather requiring consumption of much potable water.

They also called on the state government to extend supply of potable water beyond the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja to Felele, major suburb to Lokoja among other areas in dire need of such very important commodity.
