The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has felicitated with Comrade Christopher Ikechuwku Isiguzo on his re-election as President of the union.

The council said Isiguzo’s re-election with 665 votes at the just concluded seventh NUJ Triennial Delegates’ Conference in Umahia, Abia State, was a reward for excellent performance and attestation to his overwhelming popularity among members of the union across the 36 States of the federation and FCT.

In a statement on Friday, the Chairman, Kwara Council of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, noted that the council was enthused with the leadership quality the NUJ President exhibited during his first tenure.

He added that the council was particularly pleased with the dynamic generational change Isiguzo brought to bear in spite of the challenges that characterized the last three years, including the COVID-19 outbreak that nearly stymied the vision of his administration.

Describing the victory as well deserving, the council urged the NUJ President to consolidate on the feat that endeared him to members and delegates at the just concluded conference.

The council pledged its unalloyed support to the Isiguzo’s leadership, in its insatiable quest to advance the cause of the union and propel it to greater heights as its campaign mantra symbolized.

“On behalf of the Kwara State Council of NUJ, we are pleased to rejoice with our dynamic President, Comrade Christopher Ikechuwku Isiguzo, on his re-election at the just concluded seventh NUJ Triennial Delegates’ Conference.

“The overwhelming votes of delegates at the conference attested to the leadership quality and generational change that you represent as a youthful leader.

“We thank the Almighty God for seeing you through the turbulence that nearly made the poll a wishful thinking ab initio. And it was enamoring that the turnout of the delegates was huge against all odds.

“From Kwara Council, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Comrade Christopher Ikechuwku Isiguzo on the commencement of his second tenure of office and pledge our allegiance to his leadership”, Ahmed said.
