Kidnapping: Kogi Prof. 2 others regain freedom–Police

Professor John Alabi, the Dean, Management Sciences, Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba in kogi state, who was abducted at the premises of the university about week ago has regained his freedom and reunited with his family.

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO),DSP William Aya,who made the confirmation of the professor’s freedom,in an interview with the Correspondent of The Reporters in Lokoja on Sunday, said the professor was set free on Saturday night.

Aya,who disclosed that the police went into action with other sister security outfits,immediately they got information that Alabi was kidnapped,expressed delight that the efforts led to the safe rescue of the academic.

In similar vein, the command has also rescued two persons kidnapped on Saturday in Olamaboro Local Governnent Area of the state.

Aya said in a statement he made available to The Reporters in Lokoja on Sunday, recalled that some armed hoodlums forcefully abducted one Chief Idoko Emmanuel and Paul Onoja of Emonoja village in the local government and shot one Miss Blessing Akoh on her leg at Enugu Ezike road of Emonoja village.

He said:”The Police operatives attached to Olamaboro Division, led by the DPO, immediately swung into action, mobilized his men and with the assistance of local vigilante and pursued hoodlums into the bush.

“At about 0600hrs of 2/10/2021, while closing on the hoodlums, they abandoned their captives and fled.

” Victims were rescued unhurt, while the injured victim is currently on admission and efforts still on going to arrest culprits.

“The Commissioner of Police,Idrisu CP Dauda Dabban, calls on members of the public to continue to partner with the security agencies in the ongoing onslaught against criminal elements in the State.”
