Increased insecurity in Kabba: Kogi Speaker comes to rescue

The Speaker,Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole, has donated a Sienna Bus and motorcycle to the Nigeria Police, to enhance effective policing in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

The Reporters,an online publication, recalls that Kabba, the headquarter of the local government, has faced some urgly instances, whereby gunmen and Kidnappers stormed the town, released prisoners from the Nigerian Minimum Correctional Centre, killed one person abducted among worshippers in recent time.

This is in addition to the N15 million ransom, allegedly being demanded by Kidnappers to set free three poultry farmers also in the town.

The Speaker, who handed over the keys to the Commissioner of Police, Idris Dauda; said the donation was part of his support to the safety of the people of his Constituency.

He called on well to do persons in Okun land to support the security of the State, to ensure effective policing of the area.

The speaker noted that the state had enjoined relative peace in the past few years, adding that criminals must not be allowed to tarnish the feat the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, achieved in the area of security.

Prince Kolawole directed Local Government Chairmen in Okun land to collaborate with Security agencies and traditional rulers, to fight the increased insecurity in the area.

He also advised Local Government Legislative Councils to domesticate the State Anti-Kidnapping Law, in their respective areas and urged security personnel to provide quick response, whenever called upon, adding that the State Anti- Kidnapping Law would soon be reviewed to include stiffer punishment.

The Speaker also advised the state government to commence registration of Motorcycle Riders in Kabba as part of measures to check challenges occasioned by insecurity.

The online publication recalls that the exercise commenced in Lokoja, the state capital, last week.

Responding,Dauda,commended the Speaker for the donation and promised that the gesture would boost effective policing of the local government area.
