Breaking: Gunmen strike again in kogi, kill I, abduct 2

Barely two weeks after gunmen struck in kogi state, abducted some church goers and a staff of the newly established Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara in the state,they have resurfaced in Kabba attacked ECWA church,Okadayo-Kabba on Sunday, killed one worshipper and kidnapped two others.

The online publication recalls that the gunmen struck few days ago, the gunmen caused jailbreak at the Federal Minimum Correctional Centre,Kabba and set over hundred free.

According to eyewitness account, the gunmen were said to have opened fire on the worshippers as church service was going on, killing one person on the spot and leaving two others with sounds and are receiving at undisclosed hospital.

Sources added that the gunmen had earlier abducted three poultry farmers in their farm in Kabba, the headquarters of Kabba/Bunu Local Governnent Area of the state before their latest onslaught on innocent members of the public.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO)for the Police Command in the state,DSP William Aya, confirmed the story in a telephone interview with our Correspondent in Lokoja.

He said the command had deplored its men to go after the gunmen, with a view to rescuing the abducted persons and bring the attackers to justice.

He added the man hunt was being executed in conjunction with vigilante groups in the area.

Some members of the public who spoke with our Correspondent in Lokoja, expressed concern over the resurgence of heinous crime in the state, after much of relative peace, and called on security agencies in the state to redouble efforts in checking the frightening development.
