The Speaker, Zamfara State House of Assembly, Nasiru Muazu Magarya and other residents in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State became the latest casualities of the raging banditry in the state on Monday as they had their houses burnt by the bandits.
The Chairman, Committee on Security and Prosecution of Bandits in the State, Abdullahi Shinkafi who confirmed the incident, disclosed that the bandits stormed the community and set on fire some houses, including that of the speaker.
He recalled that the heinous crime was due to the ongoing onslaught by the military in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.
Shinkafi,who The Reporters gathered visited the affected community to assess the security situation, told the community of the resolve of the state government to provide them more security operatives to protect them against invaders.
He, however, announced the arrest of two suppliers of foodstuffs, petrol and other commodities to the bandits, adding that the suspects had been handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution.
It is, however, not clear if the bandits’ touch in the community involve loss of lives.
The Chairman added that the suspects used boats to convey the products from Sokoto through Issa Local Council to the bandits in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Our Correspondent reports that Zamfara state and other states in the North West and other parts of the north of the country have been having running battling with bandits and Kidnappers in recent, leaving victims with sorrow.
