By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja.

A labour leader,Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo, has passionately appealed to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, on the urgent need for the construction of the construction of the Idah – Onyedega – Iyanwo – Uje Road in Ibaji Local Governnent Area of the state.

Eleojo, who made the appeal in a statement he sent to The Reporters,an online publication in Lokoja on Sunday, noted that the construction of the road would bring tremendous social and economic benefits to the people of the area and the state at large.

He said:”I wish to draw the attention of His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, to his promise to the people of Ibaji local government, on the construction of the Idah – Onyedega – Iyanwo – Uje Road.

“The current state of Idah – Onyedega Road has made the Ibaji people to be completely cut-off from the rest of the state, as their only means of transportation to Idah is through the water ways.”

Eleojo, who is also an activist, described the local government as an agrarian community where produce were ferried to either Anambra, Delta or Edo states.

He, however, expressed concern that due to the deplorable nature of the road, a strategic facility in the area, transportation of farm produce had not been effective, thereby making kogi and its people to loose a lot of revenue.

“The state government should utilise the forthcoming dry season to mobilise contractors to the site to give the people of the area a sense of belonging in the state, more so that Ibaji local government was one of the local governments that APC won in the last gubernatorial election,” he urged.
