Embark on cluster farming to reduce hunger, agriculture expert urges women

KEHINDE AKINPELU, ILORIN.

With prices of food stuff in Nigeria skyrocketing unabated, the National President, Women in Agriculture,Mrs Esther Audu, has advised women to embark on cluster farming to reduce hunger and boost the needed massive food production in the country.

She gave the advice while speaking to our correspondent in Ilorin on Saturday, adding that the move became imperative,in view of the hardship facing Nigerians to feed,especially in recent time.

Audu enumerated such clauster farming to include: mushroom, Plantain, Rice, Cassava,Tomatoes, pepper among others, describing them as key to reduce hunger and improve agricultural and economic potential of the country.

The National President also called on the state and the Federal governments to assist women in agriculture to improve food for all, nothing that women played active role in farming.

Audu commended the kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello,for his maximum support to agriculture in the state and called on the people to continue to support his administration at all times.

The national president also gave kudos to other governors in the country she noted working accidiciously to ensure that women in agriculture get recognition, and assisted with farm implements to enable them actualize their dream of enhancing food production.
